Ephesians 1:18-19 teaches us about the power of God that is in us, but as Christians many still have not come to an understanding of that power and how God teaches daily lessons on what He has placed within us. “18 And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people), 19 and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength.” (AMP) Many times in our lives God is trying to teach us lessons and we just don’t get it. That is why meditation is so important. We meditate on the Word but we also meditate on the things that happened in our lives that day. It’s not to see if we measure up but to see if we perceived the lesson that God was teaching us today. You see this Word of God is not to be just read but itis to be experienced, lived. I hear people ask all the time how to apply the Word of God to their lives in this day and time and meditating on it plays a big part in that. You might think that you just had an ordinary day. That your day was pretty much the same as the day before and the day before that, but you’re wrong. Something did happen today, just as it did all the days before. God is trying teaching you even in your day to day activities. The problem is that we don’t pay attention to the lessons. Let’s start with the morning. You wake up and you know you have to be at work or an appointment at a certain time but you overslept. Or the kids were moving slow. You know you are late but you begin to pray that you get there on time. And surprise! You made it just in time. So what did you learn? The obvious answer is that God answers our prayers, but if this is your only thought then you have missed the lesson of the day. You see God didn’t only answer your prayers but He moved time by your words. He actually slowed the whole world down so that you could catch up!!! He showed you that there is power in you to control the time. Now it’s funny that I read somewhere recently that scientist are really working on developing a way to time travel and we who are called by His name are traveling through time on almost a daily basis! Matthew 22:29 says, “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” And 1 Corinthians 4:20 says, “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.” Until we can conceive that there are no boundaries in this power, this God given power, we will remain in a kind of stasis. A place of inactivity of the power of God. A cocoon of ignorance of everything that God said we have not being activated in our daily lives. See, we need to begin to elevate our thinking and the only way to do that is to catch these daily lessons that God is trying so hard to teach us. It’s not just about reading the Word of God but this mediating on it is where we get our fuel, our substance. It where we begin to truly come alive in the awareness and knowledge of this power that has been placed in us. It’s where the miracles begin because it not only teaches us but it builds on our faith, since we actually become witnesses to what God has done this day! It says in Ephesians 3 that to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God and unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that WORKS in us. The power that WORKS in us! It’s WORKS! It’s not in stasis. It’s not dormant. It’s moving! It’s active! And it’s in us. And every day of your life our Father is showing that’s it in us and we miss the lesson. But that’s okay because you can see it now. You can see that you weren’t really paying attention and now you will. You won’t just say, “I’ve read my verse for the day” or “I read my Bible.” Now you’ll take the time to meditate on what you just finished reading. You’ll look at your day and see what God taught you that day. You’ll be the witness. And learn how better to activate that power that God has placed in you. So follow these steps each day and watch the changes that will begin to take place in your life. 1. Read your Word! You have to read your Bible because this is where our understanding comes from. 2. Meditate on what you just read. When we meditate we are opening ourselves up for God to show us things we need to see. 3. Meditate on your day and LOOK for the lesson/s that God showed you this day. God never stops teaching us how to be more like Him. We just need to pay more attention to the lesson. 4. Declare that you witness the movement of God’s power. Yes God! You did slow time down so that I made it there on time! I saw it and I know it was you! 5. Practice what you learned. Begin to make the declaration that time will slow down so you can be on time. (Please note that this is just an example.) Make declarations about everything going the way you need it to go. Remember there is power in our words. Declarations speak things into existence. Just like there are different levels of faith there are different levels of power but following these tools will help you to build up the strength of the power that lives in you. More than power builders they are faith builders because it’s your faith that elevates activates everything God through His Son Jesus has given us. I pray these words will be a blessing to you.
