I am a firm believer that when we speak of the things of God it should not just minister but change a person's life, but at some point in your walk you can end up in a sort of dead zone. You love the Lord but it will seem like everything has stopped moving and when I say everything, I mean everything. This can include but is not limited to your passion for the Word and your passion to serve Christ with all of your being. Now why does this happen? Why do we sometimes feel like we are in a dry place and begin to cry out to God for direction? We'll ask every believer we know to pray for us to find direction when God has already given it. You see this is the thing. We need those dead zones to grow. If God was always pushing us we would never mature enough to stand on our own two feet in pure faith. You've heard me say this repeatedly, "we must continue to move from faith to faith" and your faith will never increase if you're always seeing the move of God. Yes, it would be wonderful if our whole life was a constant 'move of God', yet the reality is our human-ness keeps us from reaching that place. But we can get very close if we continue to believe, keep moving forward and not allow anything to be taken from us in those dry lands. You see those dry places are testing grounds. This is the place where you show that your faith isn't just a word but an action. This is the place where you hold on to every passion you had for God and His Son, Jesus! This is where you show yourself and others that you really do believe that everything God spoke to you is true! Unfortunately we often fail at this and that's when we begin to have that feeling of being stuck and feeling that we've lost some of our passion for Christ. I've heard many people say that you'll never feel the way you did when you first gave your life to Christ and that is so untrue! What Jesus gave us then He continues to pour out to us. He never stopped nor has He slowed down in His outpouring. The problem is that we have allowed ourselves to become distracted by this world which has caused some kinks to be in our line of connection. So what we need to do is untwist, untangle and get those kinks out of the cord. Your passion is still there lying dormant and waiting for total connection. So make sure you take some time out each day to make sure you're getting a good connection. What things have you seen, heard, said or done that could cause a kink in the line? The sooner you straighten it out the sooner all those things, all the blessings, all the feelings of joy and triumph will return. Meditate on these scripture and steps to help you reach the place of discernment so the untangling can begin: Genesis 25:22-23,"And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the Lord. 23 And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger." Ask God first! He'll give you the answer! Acts 17:11,"These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so." Search the Scriptures! It's filled with the Word of Truth! Acts 17:27,"so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;" You have got to grab hold of the Lord!! Grab hold and never let go! So let's fire up our passion for Jesus and keep that fire burning strong! Be blessed! Evangelist Cheryl Owolabi (www.fearnotministries.com)
